Another ironic face of social media…

The kids are finally sleeping sweet. What happens then? I start hacking away new style sheets for this blog, and my beloved girl friend equally frantically publishes the latest on a new foundation (don´t ask..) on her spanking new blog on another laptop next to me in the sofa.

As social as it gets, constantly closer to God father himself…

Stocking up ammo for tomorrow

Tomorrow will be all about firing! Pre lunch on the skeet shooting range, knocking clay pigeons down and having a barbecue with my father and friends. Post lunch my synapses will be fired freely as I am having a session with a friend on a might-be idea that could transform into a great application one day. I am the urban cowboy, albeit I need to pick up at nursery school at 3pm… [ YKM ]

When will marketeers ever learn?

Posted on | November 10, 2009 | Comments Off on When will marketeers ever learn?

A recent US study concludes that the user interaction levels with video banners are higher when placed in social media, than in other media. I don´t even need to guess if the general conclusion will be

-“Yes, let´s load all SM arenas up with funky video banners. We could even go viral on their asses…”

No no no, this is a wrong as 10 years ago when they invested millions in CRM systems just to be able to send more targetted mails and display personalized banner offers on their web sites.

I agree there can be instances when a video banner will work even in social media. But that´s not the point. That´s not the mojo. You can create attention on a dinner by showing your vacation slides, but if you don´t follow it up by a discussion, and sooner or later give answers to the questions that always pop up in any communication, you will not remain the center of the festivities for too long.

Don´t view social media as a good cluster of potential receivers of your outbound communication. Because it is not. You´ll only crash the party.

A wild weekend in the outskirts

Posted on | November 9, 2009 | 2 Comments

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending a fishing competition in the very outskirts of our archipelago, “Sandhamnsöringen”.As is appropriate this time of year, the weather was quite harsh and “old sea” from a stormy last week brought waves of 2-3 meters. Not a problem to my boat in general, but as fishing for trout means you have to go in (really close) on shallow shores, the dunes caused some exciting propeller-to-bedrock impacts as the water suddenly disappeared beneath the boat…

20 teams started, most quite savy trout hunters, 1 trout was reported back as the competition finished 16:00 at Seglarhotellet, Sandhamn. Not the easiest of days in other words. The good thing is that the one fish caugt, was caught exactly where we began, indicating our strategy was good, only luck was down…

All in all a very nice weekend at sea, including severely nice evening activities with good friends including sizzling hot sauna, night time swim in the sea (5.2 degrees celsius) and the mandatory jacuzzi situated on the rocks overlooking the sea horizon to Finland.

A new blog is born. Clap clap clap.

The world has indeed been kept desperately waiting for yet another blog.

I do in fact have a master plan with this blog, coordinating and hubbing up loads of various needs and existing personal online services. Remains to be seen whether this tool can deliver on those needs or not. I am giving it a try!

Welcome blog lovers…
